Sea transportation now is a high problem for the exporters and importers in all of the world. The high sea freight now become a burden for the business, most buyers is hard to afford it. In May 2020, a 40’container to Longbeach USA, is about USD3000-4000, but in 2021, it is about USD9000-12000. Also, the short of containers, crowded port, customer need to wait more than 20 days to take the delivery of the goods after goods arriving. Long transportation days on the sea, the high requirement of the twist ties and the hardness to ship out the goods is a great contradiction at present.
In every September, twist ties will be widely applied to use in farms. However, this year some farms will pay more money on it. The material price increasing is a recognized fact. The lower price twist ties from China will be hard to find out in the market. Maybe some twist ties will be replaced by Mexico twist ties. But Mexico twist ties is always not in stable quality. Most twist ties have printed information on the surface, so the printed oil’s safety is an important factor in the production of the twist ties. The twist ties produced by Zhenjiang Hongda is printed with soybean oil ink, which can touch with food directly.
In order to save the cost, some customers change the size of the twist ties, for example, some changed the width from 1/2” to 7/16”, some change the length from 22” to 20”, like this. Even though with these changes, the price of the twist ties is still at least 30% higher than 2020. The increased part is mainly paid for the sea freight, high tariff and the increased material. And this situation will last for a long time if the epidemic situation can not disappear.
Is it a reality if all the twist ties produced in domestic instead of importing from China? In a short time, the domestic production cannot satisfy market requirement. And the production cost is not cheaper. So, the increased higher price of the twist ties will be absorbed by customers at last, no matter it is produced in domestic or importing from China.
